San Diego trip
My Wisconsin uncle and aunt, plus their five kids (one originating from Seattle) descended upon the San Diego area recently, and they invited our little family to join them for a short weekend trip.
San Diego is high on my list of favorite places in the country. The only place that rivals is Estes Park, CO, and I would really have to go there again with Peter to know exactly how it stands in relation to San Diego – the last time there in EP was long before Peter was in my mind or life.
Needless to say, it was a wonderful time to explore and catch up with family. My aunt and uncle are fabulous hosts-away-from-home. In just over 24 hours we played tourist in La Jolla and Coronado and ate about a weeks’ worth of food.
Plus, this little girl wins most obliging 17 month old of the year award. She put up with 5+ hours of car time, 20 minutes of nap time a day instead of her normal 2+ hours, sleeping in a weird hotel bathroom, a worship service on little sleep and lots of new adventures, all with hardly a fuss. No pressure, little brother, but she’s leaving some happy shoes to fill!
And finally, while one of the only pictures taken on Sunday, this face cracked me up:
I didn’t think to get a group shot, so here is the only one (minus Uncle Todd), borrowed from facebook:
